Manipur MLAs Meet Governor Bhalla to Discuss State Challenges and IDP Welfare

Imphal: Six Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from Manipur met with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan on March 13 to discuss the ongoing challenges faced by the state’s citizens, particularly in the wake of recent unrest.

The MLAs—Awangbow Newmai, Khashim Vashum, Losii Dikho, Leishiyo Keishing, J Kumo Sha, and Janghemlung Panmei—expressed their commitment to peace and pledged full cooperation in restoring normalcy across Manipur.

During the meeting, the legislators expressed optimism that under Governor Bhalla’s leadership, the state would return to peace and stability. Their collective message emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in overcoming the current challenges.

In a separate meeting held the same day, representatives from the Churachandpur Meitei United Committee, led by Co-Convenor Naba Ningthoujam, presented a memorandum addressing the welfare concerns of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from the Churachandpur district. The delegation called for immediate intervention to improve conditions for those living in relief camps, who have faced significant hardships due to the ongoing unrest.

Governor Bhalla assured the committee that their concerns would be addressed, although no specific action plans were outlined during the discussion. These meetings are part of ongoing efforts to address the displacement crisis and restore stability in the region, which has seen significant internal displacement in recent months.
