Assam: Migrant Worker Arrested in Kerala with 30 Grams of Heroin

Guwahati: A migrant worker from Assam, identified as Abdul Rauf (35), was arrested in Kerala’s Perumbavoor, near Kochi, for possessing 30 grams of heroin.

Rauf, a native of Nagaon, Assam, was taken into custody by a joint operation team led by Perumbavoor ASP Sakthi Singh Arya and the Kunnathunadu Police.

According to police officials, Rauf was operating a drug trade from a rented house in the Chelakkulam area near Kochi. He was reportedly bringing heroin from Nagaland by train and distributing it through a network of agents. During interrogation, Rauf confessed to selling the contraband in small bottles, each priced at Rs 500, through middlemen.

The police recovered Rs 84,000, suspected to be proceeds from heroin sales, and found hundreds of bottles stored at Rauf’s residence for drug distribution. Authorities noted that Rauf led a lavish lifestyle, raising suspicions about his source of income.

Further investigations are underway to trace his supply network and possible accomplices.
