Meghalaya: Shillong Cricket Association Clinch U-15 Girls Inter-District Cricket Tournament

Shillong: The Shillong Cricket Association (SCA) emerged victorious in the final of the U-15 Girls Inter-District Cricket Tournament 2025, defeating South West Khasi Hills by 41 runs in Nongstoin.

The tournament, organised by the Meghalaya Cricket Association, was hosted by the West Khasi Hills District Cricket Association at the Mawrysyiar village playground.

In the rain-affected match, South West Khasi Hills won the toss and opted to field first. The SCA relished batting first, posting 166/3 in 20 overs. Janvi Kumar Shah top-scored with 58 from 67 deliveries, while Laviola L Mawlong (28 from 32) and Prisceca Nongpiur (16 from 30) also contributed to the team’s total.

In the chase, South West Khasi Hills’ innings was reduced to 9.3 overs due to a rain interruption. Based on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, their revised target was 116. However, they managed only 74/7 in the allotted timeframe, handing SCA a 41-run victory. Laviola took 2/3 in her first over, while Prisceca claimed 2/17 in 4 overs.

The final match was attended by distinguished guests, including MCA Honorary Secretary Rayonald Kharkamni, MCA Vice-President Sengnab Momin, and representatives from various district cricket associations. The tournament provided a platform for young girls to showcase their talent, and the final match proved to be an exciting contest despite the rain interruptions.
