Assam: Dr. Rezaul Hamid Represents India at World Neuroscience & Psychiatry Conference 2025
Guwahati: Dr. Rezaul Hamid, a distinguished psychiatrist and mental health expert from Barpeta, Assam, represented India at the World Neuroscience & Psychiatry Conference 2025 (WNPC25) held in Bangkok, Thailand, from March 8 to 9.
During this prestigious event, Dr. Hamid delivered a keynote presentation titled “Migraine and Epilepsy: Do They Share Common Neurobiology?”, shedding light on the neurobiological connections between these disorders and their implications for mental health. His research offers valuable insights into shared neurological pathways, potentially paving the way for enhanced treatment strategies for both conditions.
Dr. Hamid, the founder and proprietor of Mindcare Neuro Psychiatry Research Centre in Mandia, Barpeta, is a recognized leader in Indian psychiatry. He currently serves as the President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Barpeta, and has previously held the role of co-chairperson of the College Mental Health Specialty Section of the Indian Psychiatric Society.
Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity, Dr. Hamid said, “This is a great opportunity to showcase our research and collaborate with international experts to advance neuroscience and mental health care.” His contributions to the field were acknowledged by the WNPC25 organisers, who honoured him with a full registration waiver and sponsored accommodation, recognizing his standing in the global psychiatric community.
Dr. Hamid’s participation at WNPC25 follows his impactful role at the ANCIPS 2025 conference held in Hyderabad earlier this year. At ANCIPS, he chaired two scientific sessions, presented research papers on the “Neurobiology of Emotion” and the “Mental Health of Psychiatrists”, and conducted a hands-on workshop on Neurostimulation in Psychiatric Practice. The workshop, which lasted for 3.5 hours, was coordinated with fellow experts Dr. G Prasad Rao, Dr. Gautam Saha, and Dr. Sai Krishna Tikka, providing advanced insights into neurostimulation and neuromodulation techniques for clinical practice.
Dr. Hamid’s contributions extend far beyond conferences. As a pioneer in psychiatric care, he is leading advancements in digital mental health solutions and Virtual Reality Therapy through his expanding Mindcare Institute of Mental Health & Allied Sciences. Currently, he is spearheading the development of a 100-bed super-specialty mental health hospital in Barpeta, Assam, strengthening India’s role in global psychiatric advancements.
Furthermore, Dr. Hamid’s Mindcare Neuro Psychiatry Research Centre in Mandia, Barpeta, offers a state-of-the-art de-addiction center equipped with advanced therapies such as rTMS, tDCS, VR Therapy, and Biofeedback Therapy.
