Tripura Police Arrest Youth for Brutally Killing Puppy and Sharing Video on Social Media

Agartala: The Tripura Police have arrested Bador Jamatia, a youth from Teliamura in Khowai district, for the brutal killing of a puppy, an act which he shared in a disturbing video on social media.

Officers from Teliamura Police Station apprehended Jamatia after multiple FIRs were filed following the circulation of the video. He is set to be produced before the court tomorrow.

Rajib Debnath, Officer-in-Charge of Teliamura Police Station, informed India Today NE that the investigation was launched immediately after receiving the FIRs, and after three days of intense efforts, the police were able to arrest the accused. Debnath confirmed that Jamatia will be presented before the court soon.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage among the public, with animal rights activists and netizens calling for swift justice. The disturbing video has fueled massive public resentment, compelling authorities to take swift action.

Tripura’s Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD) Minister Sudhangshu Das condemned the act and directed the police to take immediate and strict action. Two animal rescue organizations, Pawsome and K-Nine, also filed general diary entries at different police stations, urging urgent intervention.

In addition, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the royal scion and founder of Tipra Motha, filed a formal complaint, demanding strict measures against the accused. Authorities are closely monitoring the case, ensuring that legal proceedings are pursued promptly.
