Assam: Guwahati Police Net Multiple Suspects, Recover Stolen Goods in City-Wide Raids
Guwahati: Guwahati’s law enforcement has significantly escalated its campaign against theft and burglary, resulting in numerous arrests and the retrieval of a substantial cache of stolen items from various parts of the city.
The Fatashil Ambari Police Station scored a key success with the arrest of Bittu Bowal, who confessed to stealing batteries from an ATM in Lalganesh. Bowal’s admissions led to a series of raids on scrap godowns in Ulubari and Birubari, where Rafikul Ali, Altab Hussain, and Imran Hussain were apprehended. The operation yielded a recovery of thirteen batteries, including six specifically from ATMs, alongside eleven new ceiling fans, eighteen bundles of copper wire, five water boring motors, and a Redmi laptop.
Further operations by the Panbazar Police, acting on precise intelligence, resulted in the capture of Mofidul Islam and Mir Mohammad Ali at 2 No. Railway Gate. The police seized a collection of stolen mobile phones, including a Samsung, an Infinix, two MI, a Realme, and two Motorola devices.
Dispur Police, acting on confidential information, apprehended five individuals in the Khanapara vicinity: Habel Ali (35), Zakir Hussain (18), Avtar Singh (30), Chandan Sharma (18), and Dipak Brahma (33). This operation led to the recovery of a stolen battery and two wrenches.
The Guwahati Police have reaffirmed their commitment to sustained and rigorous action against theft and burglary, prioritizing the safety and security of the city’s populace.
