Assam: Barpeta’s Hospitality Sector Gets Boost from DICC Workshops
Guwahati: Barpeta witnessed a significant push for its burgeoning hospitality and tourism sector as the District Industries and Commerce Centre (DICC) successfully concluded two pivotal workshops on March 17, 2025.
These interactive sessions, held under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) program in collaboration with the Assam Small Industries Development Corporation (ASIDC), took place simultaneously at Barpeta Road and Bajali, addressing the crucial needs of local entrepreneurs.
The workshop at Bajali commenced with an inaugural address by Smt. Pinkey Debnath, ACS, Assistant Commissioner of Bajali, setting the tone for a day of insightful learning. Dr. Anirban Baishya, Head of the Department at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Guwahati, served as the primary resource person, offering expertise on the latest trends and practices within the hospitality sector. Simultaneously, in Barpeta Road, Sri Hemanta Baishya, a Senior Professor from IHM Guwahati, led a parallel workshop, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience with aspiring and established entrepreneurs.
Both workshops were designed to provide crucial knowledge on business development, service enhancement, and the latest emerging trends in the hospitality industry. The DICC’s initiative aimed to empower local businesses, fostering economic growth and enhancing the overall tourism experience in the region. The collaboration with ASIDC and the involvement of experienced professionals from IHM Guwahati signified a concerted effort to elevate the standards of hospitality and tourism in Barpeta.
