Assam: Guwahati Police Nab Two KCP (PWG) Militants in Night Operation

Guwahati: Guwahati City Police have successfully apprehended two key members of the Kangleipak Party (People’s War Group – KCP PWG), a Maoist separatist militant group operating in Manipur, in a targeted operation conducted on the night of March 20.

The arrests, stemming from crucial intelligence provided by Gajraj Military Intelligence, took place at the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) under the jurisdiction of Garchuk Police Station in Guwahati.

The individuals detained are Meisnam Bungochouba Singh, 42, an arms supplier hailing from Haotak Tampha Khunou, Bishnupur, and Techsa Ibomcha Singh, also 42, a senior commander of the KCP (PWG) from Pukhao, Imphal East. Singh was wanted in connection with numerous extortion and arms-related offenses. The operation is seen as a significant move in disrupting the activities of the militant group and bolstering regional security.

In a separate but related development, Manipur Police reported the arrest of three cadres belonging to the Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL) [KCP (MFL)] earlier on the same day, March 20. The arrests, part of an ongoing crackdown on militant activities within the state, occurred at Lilong Chajing Mamang Leikai under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West District.

The arrested individuals were identified as Aheibam Gandhi alias Nanao, 35, Thongam Naoba Meitei, 21, and Ningthouba Momocha Singh. The trio was implicated in abduction for ransom, and during their arrest, law enforcement seized a four-wheeler and four mobile phones equipped with SIM cards.
