
Security Forces Recover Large Cache of Arms and Ammunition in Manipur Operations
Imphal: Security forces in Manipur conducted extensive search and area domination operations across the fringe and vulnerable regions of hill and valley districts, resulting in the recovery of a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and protective gear.
The operations, aimed at maintaining law and order, were carried out in multiple locations over recent days.
In a targeted raid in the Awaching area under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East District, security personnel seized a substantial collection of weapons and equipment. Among the recovered items were a 2-inch mortar, a .32 pistol with a magazine, two No. 36 hand grenades, 20 live rounds of 5.56X30 mm ammunition, and various other ammunition types.
Additionally, security forces found specialized equipment, including a bulletproof plate and helmet, seven tube launchers, and multiple weapon magazines, including one for an INSAS Light Machine Gun (LMG).
In a separate operation conducted in the jungle near L. Phaikot under Leimakhong Police Station in Kangpokpi District, security forces recovered further firearms. This included a modified-butt INSAS rifle with a magazine, a .303 rifle with a magazine, and a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) with a magazine.
All recovered arms and ammunition have been secured, and authorities are conducting further investigations to identify the origins of the weaponry and any potential links to insurgent activities. Security forces have intensified surveillance and search efforts to curb illegal activities and ensure public safety across the region.
