Assam: Election Violence Erupts in Boko Amid Rabha Hasong Council Polls

Guwahati: Tensions flared in Gamerimura, Boko, as election-related violence broke out following a clash between two rival factions over the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) elections. The situation escalated into arson and vandalism, targeting political offices and personal property, triggering fear and unrest in the area.

Unidentified miscreants set ablaze the office of Tilottama Rabha, the candidate from 24 No. Luki Constituency representing the Rabha Hasong Joint Struggle Committee and NDA. In a simultaneous act of aggression, agitators attacked the Gamerimura All Rabha Students’ Union (ARSU) office, causing significant damage to the property.

The violence extended to private property as well, with one motorbike torched and another severely vandalized. The incident led to panic among local residents, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement authorities.

Officers from Boko Police Station arrived at the scene late at night to restore order and prevent further escalation. Authorities have launched a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence.

The unrest highlights the growing tensions surrounding the RHAC elections, with law enforcement maintaining a heightened presence to ensure public safety and prevent further disturbances.
