Guwahati: A devastating fire ravaged a Sal tree plantation within the Balipara Reserved Forest on the night of March 25. The blaze, allegedly set by unidentified miscreants, spread rapidly, engulfing several valuable Sal saplings and causing significant ecological damage.
Upon receiving the alert, a team from the forest department swiftly responded to the scene and took immediate action to contain the fire. Their prompt intervention successfully brought the blaze under control, preventing it from escalating into a larger environmental disaster.
An investigation has been launched to identify those responsible for the act. Forest officials remain on high alert to prevent further incidents that threaten the region’s biodiversity.
