India Launches ‘Operation Brahma’ to Aid Earthquake-Hit Myanmar

National: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has extended his condolences over the loss of lives caused by the powerful earthquake that struck Myanmar. Expressing solidarity with the neighboring nation, he assured that India stands ready to provide all possible assistance during this difficult time.

In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister revealed that he had spoken with Myanmar’s Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to convey India’s support. Modi emphasized that as a close neighbor and friend, India is committed to standing by Myanmar and offering prompt humanitarian assistance to aid in recovery efforts.

In response to the crisis, India has announced the launch of “Operation Brahma,” a large-scale relief initiative aimed at providing immediate aid to the affected regions. Under this operation, a contingent of 80 personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will be deployed to Myanmar. The specialized team, equipped with advanced earthquake rescue gear, is expected to reach the country by Saturday evening. A senior Commandant-rank officer will lead the mission, ensuring the swift execution of search and rescue operations.

As Myanmar continues to grapple with the aftermath of the devastating earthquake, India’s rapid response underscores its commitment to humanitarian assistance and regional cooperation. Through Operation Brahma, India aims to provide critical support to its neighbor, reinforcing the shared spirit of solidarity in times of crisis.
