Assam Sheds “Baggage” of Corruption Under NDA Rule, Claims Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has claimed that the state has shed the “baggage” of corruption, chaos, and criminal appeasement under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) rule.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Boko for the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) elections, Sarma stated that the NDA has built, protected, and empowered the state, whereas the opposition thrives on deception and division.

Sarma emphasized that the Rabha people will no longer be silenced by vested interests who thrive on underdevelopment, and that this election is about reclaiming their destiny with the NDA leading from the front. He highlighted the NDA’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, uncompromising indigenous empowerment, and transformative governance model, which has set a clear mandate for Rabha Hasong’s future.

BJP Assam President Dilip Saikia, who led a massive campaign blitz in Boko and Dudhnoi alongside Sarma, criticized the Congress for treating indigenous communities as mere vote banks. Saikia urged voters to support the NDA and Rabha Hasong Joint Struggle Committee candidates, ensuring a resounding victory in the upcoming elections on April 2.

The rallies witnessed participation from prominent leaders, including Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Tankeswar Rabha and Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah. Saikia called upon the people to cast their ballots in favor of the Lotus symbol for the BJP and the TV symbol for the Rabha Hasong Joutho Hangram Samiti, ensuring “strong and stable governance” in the region.
