Waqf Amendment Bill to Be Introduced in Lok Sabha, Assam Deputy Speaker Backs Initiative
As the Waqf Amendment Bill is set to be introduced in the Lok Sabha today, 2nd April, Assam Assembly Deputy Speaker Numal Momin has strongly endorsed the Bill, describing it as a “great initiative” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the welfare of underprivileged Muslims in the country.
Speaking to reporters, Momin criticised the Congress party, accusing it of exploiting the poor Muslim community for political gain.
“The ideology of Congress has always been to exploit the poor Muslim community. They do not want poor Muslims to have better facilities or a better livelihood. At the same time, wealthy Congress members seek to exploit these poor Muslim people,” he stated.
He further urged the Congress party to support the Bill and correct its past mistakes. “My advice to the Congress party is that they should come forward with an open mind and support this Bill so that they can prove they stand with the poor Muslim community,” Momin added.
The Bill is expected to spark debates in Parliament, with opposition parties likely to express their stance on the proposed amendments.
