Assam: Defense Accounts Official Nabbed in Guwahati Bribery Case
Guwahati, Assam – A serving official from the Controller of Defense Accounts, located in the Satgaon area of Guwahati, has been apprehended by authorities following allegations of accepting a bribe, reliable sources confirmed earlier today.
The individual taken into custody has been identified as Mrinmoy Ghosh, who holds the position of an accounts officer within the defense accounts department. The arrest was executed by officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
According to information obtained from sources, Mr. Ghosh purportedly solicited a sum of Rs 2.72 lakh in exchange for the clearance of a pending bill. The CBI’s operation culminated in the official being caught while allegedly accepting a partial payment of Rs 43,000, which was part of the total demanded bribe amount.
Sources further revealed that the individual who allegedly paid the bribe has been identified as Bikash Sarkar. The CBI has also taken Mr. Sarkar into custody as part of their ongoing investigation into the matter. Authorities have indicated that further inquiries and procedural actions are currently underway to fully ascertain the details and implications of this case.
