APST Forum Flags Alleged Fake Tribe Certificates in Arunachal, Demands Revocation and Action
Bomdila: The Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe Forum (APSTF), West Kameng district unit, has lodged a formal complaint with the President of India, raising serious allegations against five individuals accused of acquiring fake APST certificates to secure government jobs in the state.
The complaint, filed by Pasang Tsering of Tawang district, claims that the accused—allegedly of Bhutanese origin—secured Scheduled Tribe status using forged documents and misleading claims about their residency.
Individuals Named in the Complaint:
1. Nima Zomba – Lower Divisional Clerk, Directorate of Information & Public Relations, Naharlagun
2. Nima Norbu Monpa – Inspector, Arunachal Pradesh Police, posted at Police Training Centre, Banderdewa
3. Phurpa Lhamu – Medical Attendant (Masalchi), CHC Dirang
4. Dawa Sangey
5. Rinchin Khandu – Both sons of Nima Norbu Monpa
The complaint alleges that their father, (Late) Chosung, migrated from Bhutan to Salari (West Kameng) between the 1960s and 1980s and settled in Zimthung village under Dirang Sub-Division. The family allegedly obtained APST status by concealing their immigrant roots and fabricating documents.
Key Allegations:
• Improper issuance of ST certificates by the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Bomdila
• Misuse of tribal benefits and reservation quotas intended for genuine indigenous Arunachalees
• Government employment obtained on the basis of fraudulent identity
The APST Forum has demanded:
• Immediate cancellation of the alleged fake APST certificates
• Dismissal of the individuals from their government jobs
• Accountability of the concerned officials who facilitated the process
The matter is now expected to be taken up for verification by competent state and central authorities. If proven, it could lead to major administrative action and stricter verification processes for issuing APST certificates in the future.
