Netflix Crime Hit Adolescence May Return for Season 2 as Talks Begin with Director and Plan B Entertainment

Entertainment: Netflix’s gripping British crime drama Adolescence could be making a return, as early discussions are reportedly underway between the streaming giant, director Philip Barantini, and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment. The potential second season follows the show’s meteoric rise in popularity, having climbed to No. 4 on Netflix’s Most Popular English TV list with 17.8 million views between March 31 and April 6, as reported by Deadline.

Premiering on March 13, the four-episode limited series has garnered critical acclaim for its raw and immersive storytelling. Co-created by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, Adolescence explores the harrowing arrest of a 13-year-old boy, Jamie Miller, accused of murdering a fellow classmate. The show’s unrelenting one-take format has been hailed for pulling viewers deep into the chaos and trauma of youth crime and systemic failure.

Now, with buzz continuing to build, Plan B co-presidents Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner have confirmed they’re exploring a “next version” of the story alongside Barantini. While no official greenlight has been given, there is strong interest in reuniting the original creative team, including Graham and Thorne, for a follow-up.

“The idea was to make something you couldn’t look away from,” Gardner said of the show’s bold visual style, which has become a hallmark of its appeal.

Owen Cooper stars as Jamie Miller, the emotionally turbulent teen at the heart of the drama, with Stephen Graham delivering a powerful performance as his father, Eddie Miller. With global viewership surging and creative momentum building, Adolescence may soon extend its hard-hitting narrative into a second chapter—solidifying its place as one of the year’s most compelling Netflix originals.
