Arunachal: Union Minister Annapurna Devi Reaffirms Centre’s Commitment to Women and Child Welfare in Kra Daadi

Itanagar: Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi, made a landmark visit to Arunachal Pradesh’s Kra Daadi District, underlining the Government of India’s unwavering focus on the welfare and empowerment of women and children in the Northeast.

The Minister’s itinerary was packed with public engagements, field visits, and high-level reviews of centrally sponsored schemes, reflecting a comprehensive approach to grassroots development.

The visit commenced at the New Age Learning Centre (NALC) located within Byabang Heri Government Higher Secondary School, Palin. Accompanied by state officials and local leaders, the Minister toured the facility and participated in a tree plantation drive, signifying the Centre’s integrated vision of sustainable development—combining education, environment, and empowerment.

Annapurna Devi later visited the General Ground in Palin, where she interacted with beneficiaries at exhibition stalls set up by the Health, Women & Child Development (WCD), and Self Help Group (SHG) departments. Her dialogue with community members highlighted the importance of participatory governance and the critical role of local initiatives in national development.

A standout moment of the day was her participation in the Poshan Pakhwada celebration at Nyokum Hall, where success stories under the flagship Poshan Abhiyaan were showcased. The event brought attention to improved maternal and child health outcomes and nutritional awareness in the district.

At the District Hospital, Palin, the Minister assessed healthcare infrastructure and services, interacting with doctors and frontline workers to understand operational challenges and ensure better delivery mechanisms in remote regions.

The day concluded with a review meeting at the Panchayat Conference Hall, where the Minister held extensive discussions with the Deputy Commissioner, department heads, and other senior district officials. Emphasis was placed on the implementation status of national schemes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Poshan Abhiyaan, and Mission Shakti. Annapurna Devi commended the efforts of the district administration and called for greater synergy across departments, data-driven monitoring, and enhanced outreach to ensure last-mile connectivity of welfare programmes.

Reiterating the Centre’s support, the Minister stated, “We are committed to ensuring that every woman and child in Arunachal Pradesh is empowered, educated, and nurtured. The Centre will continue to work closely with the State to address gaps and strengthen last-mile delivery.”

Her visit marked a crucial step in aligning national policy with local needs, bridging the gap between Delhi’s vision and the aspirations of people in one of India’s most remote yet dynamic districts.
