Mizoram: Joint Operation Nets Illicit Liquor Haul in Champhai

Aizawl: In a concerted effort to curb illegal activities along the border, the Assam Rifles and the Customs Preventive Force executed a joint operation in the general area of Ngur, located in Mizoram’s Champhai district. The operation, conducted on April 10, was based on precise intelligence concerning the illicit trafficking of foreign-origin liquor within the region.

During the meticulously planned area domination patrol, the joint team successfully recovered a significant consignment of contraband. Authorities discovered a total of 21 cases containing Dagon Beer, a liquor of foreign origin. The illicit goods were found concealed within a jungle area situated near Ngur, indicating an attempt to evade detection.

Following the successful recovery, the entire cache of seized foreign-origin liquor, estimated to be worth Rs 2.52 lakh, was officially handed over to the Customs Preventive Force stationed in Champhai. This transfer marks the commencement of further legal proceedings and investigation into the source and intended destination of the smuggled goods.

Meanwhile, in Aizawl, Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma engaged in a significant discussion with Anurag Garg, the Director General of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). The meeting, held on Tuesday at the Chief Minister’s office, centered on formulating robust strategies to tackle the escalating issue of drug abuse prevalent in the state.
