Assam Set to Pioneer Advanced Cancer Care with Launch of Indigenous Robotic Surgeon
Guwahati: A significant leap in medical technology is imminent for Assam as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the unveiling of Medi JARVIS, a domestically manufactured robotic surgery machine, at the State Cancer Institute. The highly anticipated launch, scheduled for today, April 13th, marks a pivotal moment in the state’s healthcare landscape.
Through an announcement on his official X handle, the Chief Minister expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Medi JARVIS to aid the Iron Men and Women of real life – doctors!” The post further elaborated on the machine’s capabilities, highlighting its potential to “execute complex surgeries with ease,” thus promising to revolutionize surgical procedures within the state.
The introduction of Medi JARVIS aims to alleviate the challenges associated with intricate surgical interventions, providing doctors with enhanced precision and control. This advancement underscores the state’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve patient outcomes and elevate the standard of medical care.
In an unrelated development, Chief Minister Sarma also commended the collaborative efforts of the Assam Police and community leaders from the minority population in maintaining peace throughout the region. This acknowledgment followed intelligence reports indicating potential unrest stemming from protests against the Waqf Amendment Act.
Addressing the media, CM Sarma detailed the proactive measures taken by the Assam Police, which included engaging with various Masjid communities and prominent figures within the minority community. He noted, “Yesterday was Friday, and we had strong intelligence that Assam is going to witness some kind of disturbance as a result of protest by the minority community.” Despite these concerns, the state witnessed relative tranquility, with only minimal demonstrations reported in three locations.
The Chief Minister attributed this peaceful outcome to the effective communication and cooperation facilitated by the Assam Police and the community leaders, highlighting a successful example of proactive community engagement.
