Morning Deluge Hits Guwahati, IMD Predicts Continued Wet Spell Across Northeast

Guwahati: Guwahati woke up to a day shrouded in grey as heavy rainfall, punctuated by thunderstorms, swept across the city and several other districts of Assam this morning, April 13th. The sudden downpour cast a dampener on the weekend, affecting morning routines and outdoor activities.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Guwahati has released its latest weather bulletin, forecasting continued moderate thunderstorms, accompanied by surface winds and light to moderate rainfall, throughout the daytime. The advisory specifically names several districts including Barpeta, Darrang, Goalpara, Kamrup Metro, Nalbari, Sonitpur, and Udalguri as likely to experience this weather pattern.

The Regional Meteorological Centre further elaborated on the broader weather scenario for the northeastern states. According to their statement, moderate rainfall is highly probable in numerous locations across Assam and Meghalaya. Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram can anticipate light to moderate rain in a few areas. Tripura is expected to experience isolated light showers.

For the residents of Guwahati, the forecast suggests that the cloudy skies and the possibility of intermittent rain or thundershowers are likely to persist for the next six days. Despite the anticipated wet conditions, the IMD has indicated that no significant fluctuations in maximum temperatures are expected in the region during this period.
