Congress Launches Nationwide Protests Against Alleged Misuse of Investigative Agencies

New Delhi – The Indian National Congress has today initiated a widespread nationwide protest, expressing its strong condemnation of what it alleges is the Modi government’s growing tendency to employ investigative agencies for politically motivated actions. This decisive move follows closely on the heels of the Enforcement Directorate’s recent seizure of properties belonging to the National Herald and the filing of chargesheets against prominent party leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.

Across the nation, the Congress party has mobilized its cadres to stage demonstrations in front of Enforcement Directorate offices situated in various state capitals. Simultaneously, protests are also underway at central government offices located in district headquarters. These significant demonstrations are being spearheaded by the respective Pradesh Congress Committees (PCCs) and are witnessing active participation from senior state-level leaders, Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assemblies, and dedicated workers from the party’s various frontal organizations.

In a formal statement released earlier today, K. C. Venugopal, the Congress General Secretary (Organisation), articulated that these widespread protests represent a “strong manifestation of public anger” directed at what the party views as a calculated misuse of state machinery by the current ruling dispensation to systematically harass leaders of the opposition.

“This government has transgressed all permissible limits in its pursuit of vendetta politics, effectively transforming enforcement agencies into mere tools for political intimidation,” asserted Mr. Venugopal in the official communication.

The Congress party has been particularly vocal in its criticism of the recent actions taken against the National Herald, denouncing the asset seizure as “arbitrary and patently unjust.” The party has underscored the historical significance of the publication, recalling its establishment in 1938 by Jawaharlal Nehru and its crucial role in the Indian independence movement.

Reaffirming its unwavering stance, the Congress party declared that it will not be cowed down by what it perceives as “undemocratic and coercive tactics.” The party has vowed to persistently resist what it terms political repression through all available democratic channels.
