Belghoria Film Festival Concludes on a High Note, Showcasing Independent Cinema

Guwahati: The inaugural edition of the Belghoria Film Festival has drawn to a close, leaving a lasting impression on cinephiles and critics alike with its thoughtful curation of talent, powerful storytelling, and celebration of independent cinema. The festival established itself as a vibrant platform for emerging talent and regional filmmakers, drawing significant attention nationwide.

Assamese filmmaker Namrata Datta won the Best Director award for her poignant documentary Lakshahira, which also earned the Best Cinematography award for Ratul Barman and Utpal Datta. The film is a heartfelt tribute to the esteemed educator and singer, Dr. Lakshahira Das, showcasing her life dedicated to education and cultural advancement.

The festival featured a compelling array of short films and documentaries that explored themes such as identity, childhood, spirituality, and social change. A special screening of Astaraag, a unique and profoundly evocative film by Rahul Biswas, was also a highlight of the event, receiving widespread acclaim from audiences for its striking narrative and visual style.
