Sikkim Government Intensifies Grassroots Focus with Field Visit to Lingthem-Lingdem GPU
Gangtok: In a strong demonstration of its dedication to local-level progress, the Sikkim government recently orchestrated an extensive field visit across significant areas within the Lingthem-Lingdem Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU).
Spearheaded by officials from the Block Administrative Centre (BAC) Passingdang, including the Block Development Officer (BDO), the inspection was conducted in collaboration with dedicated Gram Panchayat members and the Zilla representative of the Lingthem-Lingdem GPU.
Under the guidance of Minister and the region’s Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), Pintsho Namgyal Lepcha, the primary objective of the visit was to meticulously examine current development initiatives and engage directly with the community to gain firsthand understanding of existing local issues.
A key focus of the inspection was the site of the Laven bridge, a crucial infrastructure undertaking poised to dramatically enhance connectivity with the neighboring Sakyong-Pentong GPU. Government officials expressed their satisfaction with the advancement of the project, confirming that it is proceeding according to schedule for completion in the coming month.
Furthermore, the visiting team made stops at the Laven and Lingdem Primary Schools, fostering direct dialogue with both educators and students. During these interactions, the BDO underscored the critical importance of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the NIPUN Bharat mission, and the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) initiative. The BDO also elaborated on the implementation of the Holistic Progress Card (HPC), the principles of competency-based education, and the ongoing necessity for continuous professional growth among teachers.
