Sikkim Schools Spark Innovation at Dentam TLM Exhibition
Gangtok: Dentam subdivision witnessed a surge of educational creativity as 33 schools participated in a Teaching-Learning Materials (TLM) Exhibition-cum-Competition, an event graced by Sikkim Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba on April 18th.
The initiative, orchestrated by the Office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate under N. K. Karki, aimed to foster student-centric and engaging teaching methodologies.
The exhibition highlighted a plethora of innovative TLMs developed by students, serving as a platform for educators to exchange best practices and cultivate a culture of creativity within their classrooms. Judges from DIET College, Gyalshing, assessed the materials based on their creativity, practicality, and potential to enhance learning outcomes.
SDM N. K. Karki revealed the competition’s victors, with Srinagi Primary School clinching the first prize, followed by Lower Shankhu Primary School in second place, and Som Busty Junior High School securing the third position. In a gesture of support, MP Indra Hang Subba announced substantial financial grants from the MPLADS fund, allocating Rs. 5 lakh, Rs. 4 lakh, and Rs. 3 lakh to the respective winning schools to bolster infrastructure and promote innovative teaching practices.
The event saw the participation of Principals from Dentam and Hee Yangthang Senior Secondary Schools, alongside headmasters and headmistresses from the competing institutions, whose presence significantly motivated the students and educators. MP Subba praised the TLMs, drawing parallels to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s vision of education, emphasizing lifelong learning, discovery, and critical thinking beyond conventional textbooks.
The TLM Exhibition-cum-Competition underscored a shared commitment to transforming classrooms into vibrant hubs of learning, with MP Subba reiterating his dedication to supporting quality and inclusive education throughout the region.
