Modi and Musk Forge Closer Ties in Tech and Innovation via Phone Call
International: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tesla CEO Elon Musk engaged in a significant phone conversation on Friday, advancing discussions initiated during their earlier meeting in Washington, D.C. The primary focus of the call was to enhance collaboration between India and the United States in the realms of technology, innovation, and emerging sectors.
Modi conveyed on X, “Spoke to @elonmusk and talked about various issues, including the topics we covered during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year. We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation,” emphasizing India’s dedication to reinforcing its alliance with the United States in these pivotal areas.
Official sources revealed that the dialogue underscored the mutual interests of India and the United States in high-impact sectors, encompassing space exploration, artificial intelligence, sustainable development, and entrepreneurial ventures.
The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that the leaders “discussed strengthening collaboration between Indian and US entities in innovation, space exploration, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development,” further stating that opportunities in good governance and emerging technologies were also addressed during the conversation.
This recent exchange follows their prior meeting at Blair House in Washington, where Modi and Musk discussed a wide array of topics. During that meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s commitment to reforms and a governance vision focused on “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.”
“Had a very good meeting with @elonmusk in Washington DC. We discussed various issues, including those he is passionate about, such as space, mobility, technology and innovation,” Modi had posted following their February meeting, also noting the pleasant encounter with Musk’s children.
Although speculation persists regarding Tesla’s potential entry into the Indian market, no definitive agreements were disclosed. Nevertheless, the tenor of both interactions suggests a mutual eagerness for sustained engagement in cutting-edge industries.
