Prime Minister Modi Confirms Assam Visit for Key Project Inaugurations and Hazarika Centenary

Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially accepted an invitation to visit Assam on September 8, where he is slated to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several pivotal projects, alongside attending the commencement of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s birth centenary celebrations. This confirmation followed a meeting between the Prime Minister and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in New Delhi earlier today.

Chief Minister Sarma personally extended the invitation to Prime Minister Modi, requesting his presence as the chief guest for the inauguration of the year-long commemoration of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s 100th birth anniversary. The event is expected to draw significant national attention, celebrating the legacy of the legendary musician and cultural icon.

In addition to the cultural celebration, the Prime Minister is also scheduled to inaugurate the Assam Bio-Ethanol Plant. This facility, utilizing 300 KTPA of bamboo as feedstock, will produce 49 KTPA of ethanol, marking a substantial stride in the state’s pursuit of sustainable energy solutions and promising to boost rural economies.

Further bolstering Assam’s infrastructure, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stones for the Rs 5,700 crore Guwahati Ring Road and the Darrang Medical College and Hospital. These projects are anticipated to significantly enhance connectivity and healthcare access in the region.

Following the meeting, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conveyed the successful outcome through a post on X, expressing his gratitude for the Prime Minister’s acceptance.
