Manipur: Three Militant Group Members Arrested in Coordinated Security Operations Across Imphal East

Imphal East— In a coordinated security crackdown, authorities in Manipur’s Imphal East District arrested three individuals affiliated with different militant outfits on Wednesday, marking a significant step in the ongoing efforts to curb insurgent activities in the region.

The first arrest took place near the market shed in Nongpok Sanjenbam Khullen, where 34-year-old Loushambam Sundar Singh, also known by his alias Bungbung, was apprehended. Security officials identified him as an active member of the proscribed KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) group and linked him to ongoing extortion operations in the area. His arrest was carried out under the jurisdiction of Lamlai Police Station.

Shortly thereafter, another individual, 27-year-old Loitongbam Naoba Singh, was taken into custody in the Sawombung-Pourabi area. Authorities confirmed his affiliation with the militant outfit PREPAK and cited his involvement in extortion-related activities. He too was arrested under Lamlai PS jurisdiction.

The third suspect, 45-year-old Sairem Ibungo, was apprehended in Keibi Heikak Mapal. Identified as a member of the KYKL group, Ibungo was found in possession of a four-wheeler vehicle, two mobile phones, and a wallet containing Rs 2,600. His arrest was conducted under the jurisdiction of Sagolmang Police Station.

The series of arrests underscore the intensified vigilance and strategic operations being carried out by Manipur’s security forces to dismantle insurgent networks operating within the state. Investigations are underway, and authorities are expected to conduct further interrogations to uncover more details related to militant activities in the region.
