Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Along LoC Amid Rising Tensions; Indian Army Responds

National: Pakistan violated the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir late Friday night by initiating unprovoked small arms firing, defence officials reported.

A Srinagar-based defence spokesperson confirmed that several Pakistan Army posts opened fire across the LoC during the night of April 25-26, prompting a swift and effective response from Indian Army units. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the exchange.

The ceasefire breach comes at a time of heightened sensitivity in the region, following a devastating terrorist attack earlier this week in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed the lives of at least 26 people. The incident triggered strong international condemnation, with the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) issuing a statement denouncing the “reprehensible act of terrorism” and demanding accountability for the perpetrators, organizers, and sponsors behind the attack.

Adding to the commentary on the escalating situation, U.S. President Donald Trump remarked on Friday about the enduring nature of Indo-Pakistani tensions. “There have been tensions on that border for 1,500 years. They’ll figure it out one way or the other. I know both leaders, and while there is great tension, it has always existed,” President Trump said, reflecting the complexity and deep-rooted nature of the conflict.
