Jaipur Police File Charges Against BJP MLA Following Jama Masjid Protest
National: Jaipur law enforcement has registered a case against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Balmukund Acharya and a group of individuals for organizing a demonstration in front of the Jama Masjid situated in Johari Bazar. The protest, which unfolded late on Friday night, was a direct response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Station House Officer (SHO) Uday Singh from Muhana Police Station disclosed that several legal provisions have been applied against the accused. He affirmed that the police took immediate measures to stabilize the situation and prevent escalation. “We are vigilantly monitoring all developments to ensure public tranquility. Forces are stationed at key sensitive areas, and the situation is currently stable,” SHO Singh informed ANI.
During the demonstration, MLA Balmukund Acharya was observed holding placards emblazoned with slogans such as “Pakistan Murdabad!” and “Atankwad Murdabad!”, expressing solidarity with the national outcry against the Pahalgam terror incident that resulted in multiple fatalities.
In a sharp rebuke, Congress MLA and Leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan, Tikaram Jully, denounced the protest and appealed to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to exercise control over BJP legislators to avert communal discord. “As elected officials, MLAs are obligated to uphold constitutional principles and foster unity. Such actions can incite unnecessary disturbances,” Jully asserted, calling for responsible behavior from public figures during periods of heightened sensitivity.
