India Bans Pakistani YouTube Channels Following Pahalgam Terror Attack

National: In a decisive move following the recent tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian government has banned sixteen YouTube channels operating from Pakistan. The Ministry of Home Affairs recommended the stringent action after identifying the channels as sources of communally sensitive content.

This action comes in the wake of a devastating attack on April 22 at Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam, which resulted in the loss of 26 civilian lives. The incident marks one of the most severe attacks in the region since the Pulwama tragedy of 2019, sending shockwaves across the nation.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has launched an intensive investigation into the Pahalgam attack. High-ranking NIA officials, including an Inspector General, Deputy Inspector General, and Superintendent of Police, are personally overseeing the on-ground inquiries. NIA teams are currently engaged in detailed questioning of individuals who witnessed the deadly assault.

Simultaneously, the Indian Army has heightened its vigilance and is actively conducting extensive search operations in the area. The focus of these operations is to locate and neutralize the terrorists responsible for the attack. The Pahalgam incident has ignited widespread public outrage, leading to protests in numerous cities across India, with citizens demanding a robust response, both diplomatically and strategically, against Pakistan.

Government authorities have stated unequivocally that the banned YouTube channels were engaged in the dissemination of misinformation and the deliberate incitement of communal tensions. This activity, they emphasized, posed a significant threat to national security, particularly during this period of heightened sensitivity following the terror attack.
