Tripura Mandates Dual Attendance Verification for AGMC & GBP Hospital Staff Salaries Amidst Absence Allegations

Agartala, Tripura – In a significant move to ensure accountability and address recent concerns, the Tripura government has declared that the salaries of all employees at Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GB Pant Hospital will now be contingent upon verification of their attendance through both biometric and manual systems.

This decisive action follows widespread allegations regarding the presence and availability of doctors and other staff members at the prominent medical institutions. The state administration is aiming to reinforce punctuality and commitment to duty among the workforce.

According to an official order issued by the government, the new directive explicitly states that the disbursement of salaries for faculty, medical officers, officials, and all other employees of AGMC and GBP Hospital will proceed only after their attendance is meticulously verified through both the established biometric system and traditional manual registers.

The order further outlines the procedural requirements, mandating that the concerned Heads of Departments (HODs), Heads of Offices (HOOs), Resident Medical Officers (RMOs), Nursing Superintendents, and Section In-Charges are responsible for verifying and submitting factual working reports (attendance) to the Medical Superintendent & HoD of AGMC & GBPH by the 15th of each month. Recognizing potential technical issues, the order specifies that in the event of biometric device malfunction, attendance must be recorded manually on physical registers until the biometric system is restored.

Extending the scope of this stringent measure, the government has also announced that the same dual attendance verification process will be mandatory for the release of monthly stipends for Post Graduate Trainees, Junior Residents, and Intern doctors associated with AGMC and GB Pant Hospital. Furthermore, this decision will be uniformly implemented across all District Hospitals, Primary Health Centres, and Community Health Centres throughout the state of Tripura.
