Assam: RPF Nabs Two Bangladeshi Nationals Without Documents at Lumding Junction

Guwahati: In a significant security development, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Lumding Junction apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals travelling without valid documents during a routine inspection of the 13173 Kanchanjunga Express. The duo was intercepted after discrepancies were noted during the inspection, leading to their immediate detention and subsequent handover to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for further legal proceedings.

The detained individuals have been identified as 35-year-old Feroj Sheikh, a resident of Kachua in Bagerhat district, and 31-year-old Moina Roshani Kashyap from Phulbari Gate in Khulna district, Bangladesh. According to official sources, preliminary interrogation revealed that the pair had illegally crossed into India nearly a year ago. Feroj Sheikh admitted that their entry was facilitated by brokers, for which they paid a substantial sum. Since then, both had been residing and working in Bengaluru without any legal status.

The incident has raised concerns over the continuing issue of illegal immigration and the ease with which individuals are able to infiltrate Indian borders.

Authorities have launched a thorough investigation to trace their movements, uncover their local contacts, and identify any broader network involved in cross-border human trafficking or unlawful residency. Security agencies remain on high alert as further inquiries are being conducted to determine the extent of the duo’s activities and any possible threats associated with their presence in the country.
