CM Sarma Reviews Brahmaputra Bridge Progress, Gears Up for Japanese Speaker’s Visit

Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired two high-level meetings on Monday to fine-tune preparations for the upcoming visit of Japan’s Parliamentary Speaker and to assess the progress of the ambitious Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge project.

In the first meeting, Sarma directed officials to ensure that Assam’s rich cultural heritage is prominently showcased during the Japanese delegation’s tour. “This visit marks a milestone in the growing Indo-Japan partnership,” the Chief Minister stated. The itinerary includes key stops in Guwahati and Jagiroad, with security and logistics plans being finalised.

Later, reviewing the progress of the Brahmaputra bridge project, Sarma urged departments to fast-track construction and adhere strictly to deadlines. The bridge is a vital element of Assam’s infrastructure expansion plan, expected to significantly boost regional connectivity and economic activity.
