CM Tamang Reviews Key Projects in Gangtok Ahead of Sikkim’s Golden Jubilee Celebrations

Gangtok: As Sikkim gears up to commemorate 50 years of its statehood, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang conducted a comprehensive on-site review of key developmental and renovation projects in Gangtok, ensuring timely completion ahead of the Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Marking five decades since Sikkim’s historic merger with the Indian Union in 1975, the state is undertaking an ambitious transformation of public infrastructure, ceremonial venues, and beautification initiatives to reflect both its rich history and forward-looking aspirations. The Chief Minister, during his inspection, emphasized that the work underway is not only crucial for the success of the jubilee but also vital for long-term progress.

“This is a celebration of Sikkim’s journey and vision. We are investing in infrastructure that will remain valuable beyond the festivities,” Tamang remarked, while urging tighter inter-departmental coordination and adherence to quality standards. Accompanied by senior officials, he closely monitored construction sites, engaged with workers, and expressed appreciation for their dedication.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the Golden Jubilee offers an opportunity to showcase the state’s transformation, calling for an event that is both meaningful and memorable. He stressed that every effort must reflect Sikkim’s evolution—from a small Himalayan kingdom to a progressive Indian state—highlighting its cultural richness, civic progress, and development milestones.

With interest expected from across the region, the government is determined to make the jubilee a moment of pride for every Sikkimese citizen, setting the stage for the next chapter in the state’s journey.
