Arunachal Pradesh Set for Youth Empowerment Boost Through Sports and Labour Reforms

Itanagar: Union Minister Mansukh L. Mandaviya has committed to providing targeted support for Arunachal Pradesh’s youth, focusing on strengthening sports initiatives and implementing progressive labour reforms.

This pledge was made during a crucial meeting with Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K.T. Parnaik at Raj Bhavan, where both leaders engaged in extensive discussions regarding strategies to foster sporting talent, increase youth participation, and tackle labour-related issues within the state.

Governor Parnaik emphasized the state’s burgeoning reputation as a center for sporting excellence, particularly in disciplines like boxing, martial arts, and athletics, which he attributed to the inherent stamina and discipline found among the tribal youth.

He advocated for the construction of multi-disciplinary stadiums in urban areas and the development of sports infrastructure in remote villages to identify and nurture untapped potential. “Our youth are full of energy, talent, and determination. But their potential remains untapped due to limited access to facilities,” Parnaik stated, calling for investments in football and volleyball grounds, as well as archery fields at the grassroots level.

Following the meeting, Minister Mandaviya shared his reflections on X, reiterating the governor’s concerns. “We discussed the growth and development of the Northeast, especially Arunachal Pradesh, and deliberated on ways to boost sports participation and empower youth across the state,” he wrote.

The governor also acknowledged the remarkable achievements of Arunachal Pradesh’s female mountaineers, including Tine Mena, Anshu Jamsenpa, Muri Linngi, Tashi Yangjom, and Kabak Yano, all of whom have successfully summited Mount Everest, describing them as national icons deserving of continuous support to inspire future generations.

In addressing labour issues, Governor Parnaik underscored the importance of transitioning the state’s traditional workforce towards formal employment through skill development, job creation, and the implementation of inclusive policies. Labour & Employment Minister Nyato Dukam was also present at the meeting, which signifies a pivotal move towards aligning Arunachal Pradesh’s youth aspirations with broader national development objectives.
