Tripura: Controversial Content Creator Alamin Hossein Detained by West Agartala Police for Offensive Online Material
Agartala: West Agartala police have apprehended Alamin Hossein, a content creator known for his controversial posts, following allegations of uploading offensive and objectionable content on his social media channels, “Mr. Honco” on YouTube and “Mr. Hunco” on Facebook.
The detention was confirmed today, May 3rd, by Paritosh Das, the Officer-in-Charge of the West Agartala Police Station.
According to Mr. Das, the police acted after receiving a total of five formal complaints from different individuals regarding the content shared on Hossein’s platforms.
The investigation led to the identification and subsequent detention of Hossein, who hails from the Sepahijala district.
The police official stated that the videos in question contained “extremely offensive” material, including remarks deemed anti-national and derogatory statements directed towards women.
In response to the nature of the content and the complaints received, authorities have initiated the process of shutting down Hossein’s Facebook account.
Mr. Das further mentioned that Facebook’s parent company has been informed about the situation and the actions being taken.
The West Agartala police are preparing to present Alamin Hossein before the court. They will be seeking a five-day police remand to facilitate a more in-depth investigation into the matter and the extent of the offensive content disseminated through his social media channels.
Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das emphasized the police department’s commitment to addressing the misuse of social media platforms. He stated, “We are taking strict action whenever we receive complaints about content creators misusing social media platforms to spread offensive material.” This arrest underscores the authorities’ focus on regulating online content and holding individuals accountable for the material they share publicly.
