Visionary Designer Behind Assam’s Iconic Rhino Logos Passes Away
Guwahati, Assam – Amulya Baruah, the creative force responsible for the enduring and original one-horned rhino logos that symbolize both Assam Tourism and the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC), has passed away. His artistic contributions have left an indelible mark on the identity of the state.
Hailing originally from Digboi, Baruah achieved national recognition early in his career. While still pursuing his studies at the prestigious Sir JJ School of Art in Mumbai, he conceived and designed the now-familiar ASTC logo, a testament to his innate talent and visionary approach.
For several decades, Baruah had made London his home. He is survived by his wife, Lily, who belongs to the Thai royal family, and their son, Jasper.
An esteemed alumnus of Cotton College, Baruah went on to spearhead design campaigns for numerous globally recognized brands throughout his illustrious career. His distinctive artistic vision and unwavering commitment to creative excellence garnered him international acclaim within the design community.
The passing of Amulya Baruah signifies the end of a significant chapter in the world of graphic design. His legacy lives on through his timeless creations, which continue to proudly represent the state of Assam on various platforms, serving as a poignant reminder of his artistic genius and enduring impact.
