Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla Reviews Progress of National Highway Projects in Manipur

IMPHAL— Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla chaired a high-level review meeting at the Raj Bhavan’s Conference Hall to assess the progress of national highway projects currently underway across the state. The session brought together key government and infrastructure officials to evaluate developments and address critical challenges affecting timely project execution.

M.S. Deval, Executive Director of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), presented a comprehensive update on the status of multiple national highway constructions spanning various districts of Manipur. His presentation also outlined obstacles such as land acquisition issues, law and order concerns, and logistical difficulties that have hindered progress on some stretches.

In response, Governor Bhalla urged officials to take immediate and coordinated action to overcome these roadblocks and expedite work to ensure completion within the stipulated timelines. He emphasized the strategic and developmental significance of robust highway connectivity in the state, especially in the context of improving access to remote and border regions.

The meeting was attended in person by the Principal Secretary (Works), Commissioner (Home), Secretary (Land Resource), Chief Engineer (PWD), and DIG CRPF (Ops), while Deputy Commissioners from Ukhrul, Noney, Tamenglong, Senapati, Kangpokpi, Churachandpur, and Pherzwal districts joined the discussion through video conferencing. Their inputs were sought to identify district-specific issues and facilitate localized solutions to help streamline the construction process.

The review underscored the state’s push to strengthen infrastructure and boost inter-district and interstate connectivity through enhanced coordination between central agencies and local administration.
