Former TCS Chief S. Ramadorai Joins Assam Royal Global University Governing Board

Guwahati, Assam – The Assam Royal Global University (RGU) today announced a significant strengthening of its leadership with the appointment of S. Ramadorai to its Governing Board. Ramadorai, a distinguished figure in the technology sector and the former Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), brings a wealth of experience in technology, education, and skill development to the university.

Widely recognised for his pivotal role in transforming TCS into a global IT giant, Ramadorai’s expertise in aligning educational frameworks with the dynamic demands of industry is expected to be invaluable to RGU. His presence on the Governing Board signals a crucial step for the university as it continues its mission to cultivate a future-oriented academic environment for the burgeoning talent pool in Assam and the wider Northeast region.

Established over two decades ago and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Assam Royal Global University offers a comprehensive range of over 100 undergraduate and postgraduate programs spanning diverse fields such as engineering, management, law, architecture, health sciences, and humanities. The university’s expansive 30-plus acre campus in Guwahati currently serves over 8,500 students from seven different nations, supported by a robust faculty of more than 500 academic and industry professionals.

Prior to this association with RGU, Ramadorai held the significant position of Adviser to the Prime Minister in the National Council on Skill Development, where he spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at bridging the divide between academic learning and practical employment. His strategic acumen is anticipated to play a key role in further solidifying RGU’s standing as a premier institution for academic excellence and innovation, ultimately shaping a generation of skilled and globally competitive leaders for the future.
