Mizoram: ATTA Launches Crackdown on Unverified Two-Wheeler Taxi Drivers in Aizawl

Aizawl— In a bid to tighten public safety and enforce legal compliance, the Aizawl Two-Wheeler Taxi Association (ATTA) has initiated a sweeping inspection drive across the city to weed out two-wheeler taxi operators lacking valid identification documents.

The Association raised red flags after discovering that a significant number of non-local and foreign drivers were running taxis without essential identity proofs like the Aadhaar card or Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC), triggering security concerns and questions about the legality of their presence.

ATTA officials have urged taxi owners to hire only verified residents of Mizoram, stating that the current situation compromises not only passenger safety but also the integrity of the city’s transport system.

Residents of Aizawl have been asked to report any sightings of unverified drivers, with ATTA assuring that the crackdown will continue until all unauthorized operators are removed from the system.

The Association reaffirmed its stance on maintaining lawful and safe operations in the city, pledging full cooperation with law enforcement agencies to protect both commuters and legitimate taxi operators.
