U.S. Consulate in Lahore Orders Shelter-in-Place Amid Drone Explosions and Airspace Breach
Lahore— The U.S. Consulate General in Lahore has directed all personnel to shelter-in-place following multiple reports of drone explosions, downed drones, and suspected airspace violations over the city and surrounding regions.
In a security alert issued today, the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Pakistan warned of “drone explosions, downed drones, and possible airspace incursions” across Lahore and Punjab. Pakistani authorities are reportedly evacuating areas near Lahore’s main airport as a precautionary measure.
The advisory urges American citizens in the vicinity to evacuate the area if safe to do so. Those unable to leave are strongly advised to take shelter and remain indoors until further instructions are issued. The mission emphasized that U.S. nationals should enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for real-time updates.
The alert underscores rising regional tensions amid a volatile security climate following recent cross-border hostilities. The U.S. has also advised its citizens to maintain personal evacuation plans that do not rely on government aid, and to seek secure shelter in case of conflict escalation.
