Sikkim Minister Reviews Gangtok Bypass Project, Urges Speed and Quality
GANGTOK— Sikkim Road and Bridges Minister Nar Bahadur Dahal conducted an on-site inspection of the 23.3 km Gangtok Bypass road project on Thursday, emphasizing the need for timely completion and adherence to quality standards. The ambitious infrastructure project, which stretches from Ranipool to Burtuk, is being executed under the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode and is slated for completion by 2026.
The bypass is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in Gangtok and enhance regional connectivity, offering commuters an alternative route around the state capital. During the inspection, Minister Dahal interacted with officials from the executing agency and the contractor, reviewing the current status of the project and assessing its progress.
Stressing the importance of maintaining construction standards, he directed the teams to accelerate their pace of work without compromising on quality. The visit highlights the state government’s commitment to advancing critical infrastructure projects aimed at improving urban mobility and boosting economic growth in the region.
