Sikkim Celebrates Unity in Diversity at Vibrant Kuzu Cultural Festival

Gangtok, Sikkim – The heart of Gangtok, MG Marg, transformed into a kaleidoscope of colors and sounds as the Kuzu Cultural Festival unfolded, a testament to the rich tapestry of Sikkim’s cultural heritage and its unifying spirit.

The esteemed Bhim Hang Limboo lent his presence as the chief guest, adding prestige to the celebration. The event also warmly welcomed Deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa, Member of Parliament Dr. Indra Hang Subba, and MLA and Advisor to the Tourism Department Sudesh Kumar Limboo as guests of honour, highlighting the government’s commitment to cultural preservation.

The distinguished guests were escorted by Tashi T. Bhutia, the dedicated Vice President Incharge of the SKM Cultural Wing, and the meticulous State Coordinator, Monaj Lama. Together, they joined a large and enthusiastic audience, eager to immerse themselves in the day’s cultural offerings.

The stage came alive with a series of captivating folk performances, each a vibrant thread in Sikkim’s diverse ethnic fabric. The Nepal Cultural Group mesmerized onlookers with their dynamic and expressive folk dances, setting a high bar for the day’s artistic showcase.

Following their captivating performance, the Sukhim Yakthung Sapsok Songchumbho (Limboo) took center stage, their rhythmic movements and culturally significant presentation offering a deep dive into the traditions of the Limboo community.

The All Sikkim Mangar Association further enriched the cultural panorama with their heartfelt traditional songs and dances, underscoring the enduring heritage of the Mangar people.

The Kuzu Cultural Festival was characterized by enthusiastic participation from all corners of Sikkim, serving as a powerful reaffirmation of the state government’s ongoing dedication to safeguarding and promoting the invaluable cultural legacy that defines Sikkim’s unique identity.
