AAP Formally Exits INDIA Bloc, Signals Independent Path Ahead

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has officially declared its disassociation from the INDIA bloc, a move confirmed by senior party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. This announcement puts an end to weeks of speculation regarding the AAP’s continued involvement with the Opposition alliance following the 2024 general elections.

Speaking to a prominent news agency, Singh unequivocally stated, “We have clarified our position that the INDIA alliance was there till the Lok Sabha elections. As far as Parliament is concerned, we have always opposed the wrong policies of the government… Officially, the Aam Aadmi Party is not with the INDIA alliance as of today.” This statement underscores the party’s stance that its alliance with the INDIA bloc was solely for the purpose of the recent Lok Sabha polls and not a long-term commitment for political coordination, either within or outside the parliamentary framework. The decision by AAP is seen as a significant development, potentially impacting the dynamics of the Opposition space, which has already been navigating through various internal differences and post-electoral adjustments.
