AAP Launches Nationwide Fast to Protest Arvind Kejriwal’s Arrest

Guwahati, 7th April: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has initiated a nationwide ‘mass fast’ in solidarity with its national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, protesting his recent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Delhi liquor policy case. The fast, scheduled for Sunday, April 7, 2024, aims to denounce what AAP perceives as a politically motivated move against Kejriwal and the party.

Delhi Minister Gopal Rai announced the participation of AAP MLAs, MPs, office bearers, party workers, and supporters in the fast at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and Bhagat Singh’s village in Punjab. Additionally, the protest will extend to the capital cities of 25 Indian states and major global cities including New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Toronto, Melbourne, and London.

Rai condemned the Modi government, accusing it of orchestrating a conspiracy against AAP and Kejriwal by fabricating a ‘fake liquor scam’. He pointed fingers at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that while portraying a dual personality, Modi shields corrupt individuals within the BJP.

The tension between AAP and BJP has escalated following Kejriwal’s arrest in the excise case last month, prompting AAP to mobilize its supporters across India and globally in a unified demonstration against what they perceive as unjust persecution.
