AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s ED Custody Extended Amid Delhi Liquor Policy Scam Probe

National Desk, 10th October: In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh has been extended until October 13 by a New Delhi court. This extension comes as part of the ongoing investigation into the Delhi liquor policy scam case.

Sanjay Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP, appeared in the Rouse Avenue Court after the completion of his initial five-day ED custody. During the hearing, the ED requested an additional five days of custody for Singh, citing alleged non-cooperation in the probe.

Sanjay Singh was initially arrested on October 4 and taken into ED custody following a day-long questioning at his Delhi residence. The court had previously remanded him in custody until October 10.

This case is linked to allegations involving Sanjay Singh’s party colleague and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is currently in jail in connection with the same liquor policy scam case. Manish Sisodia, who also served as the excise minister, was first arrested by the CBI on February 26 for his alleged involvement in the scam.

The case revolves around allegations that Sanjay Singh and associates played a role in the Delhi government’s decision to grant licenses to alcohol shops and vendors in 2020, resulting in losses to the state exchequer and violations of several laws. The ED has filed five chargesheets in this case, including one against Manish Sisodia.
