AAP Protest Against Kejriwal’s Arrest Gains Momentum in Delhi
National Desk, 27th April: A protest spearheaded by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers erupted in Delhi, denouncing the arrest of their leader, Arvind Kejriwal. Dubbed ‘Jail Ka Jawab Vote Se’ (Answer Jail with Votes), the campaign unfolded outside Laxmi Nagar Metro station, symbolizing a resolute stand against perceived political persecution.
AAP’s Lok Sabha candidate, Kuldeep Kumar, emphasized the city’s discontent over Kejriwal’s incarceration, vowing to channel this sentiment into electoral defiance against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) come May 25.
Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi’s Chief Minister, found himself ensnared by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21, embroiled in a money-laundering investigation tied to the city’s antiquated excise policy. His subsequent confinement in Tihar Jail spurred a groundswell of support and activism from AAP loyalists.
In a bid to amplify public support, Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, intends to traverse East and West Delhi in a series of roadshows, seeking blessings for her embattled husband from constituents. This strategic outreach aims to fortify Kejriwal’s electoral prospects and AAP’s resilience amid the ongoing turmoil.
AAP leaders minced no words in condemning Kejriwal’s arrest as a calculated ploy by the BJP-led central government to stymie his electoral ambitions. They contend that this heavy-handed tactic has galvanized opposition sentiments across Delhi and beyond, priming voters to register their dissent through ballots cast in favor of AAP.
With Delhi poised to cast votes for all seven Lok Sabha seats on May 25 during the sixth phase of the General elections, the political landscape brims with anticipation and fervor as AAP mobilizes its grassroots support to weather the storm and emerge victorious.
