AAP’s Atishi, Saurabh Bharadwaj Appointed as Cabinet Ministers Of Delhi
Guwahati: President Droupadi Murmu has nominated Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj of the Aam Admi Party as ministers in the Delhi cabinet on the recommendation of chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
This will be in effect from the date they are sworn in, stated Minister of Home Affairs.
Kejriwal forwarded the names of Atishi and Saurabh to the Lieutenant Governor for their appointment to the Cabinet.
The President had on Tuesday accepted the resignations of Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, both members of the AAP.
Atishi, who represents the Kalkaji district, has played a significant role in Sisodia’s education team.
She ran for office in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the East Delhi district but was defeated by Gautam Gambhir of the BJP.
Bhardwaj, who once held the position of vice chairman of the Delhi Jal Board, is currently the party’s national spokesperson.
He served as a minister as well during the initial AAP administration.
Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, is one of the five members of the cabinet who do not have any ministries.
Sisodia had resigned from all 18 of his positions following his detention in the suspected excise policy fraud.
Seven of the portfolios handled by former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain were transferred to Sisodia after his incarceration last year; Jain was overseeing 18 ministries at the time of his arrest.
He was placed in judicial custody until March 20 by Rouse Avenue Court on Monday and is currently being held at Tihar’s jail.
