AAP’s Atishi Sworn in as Delhi’s 8th Chief Minister

National Desk, 21st September: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi Marlena took oath as the 8th Chief Minister of Delhi on September 21 at Raj Niwas, succeeding Arvind Kejriwal, who resigned following his bail in the liquor policy case.

Alongside Atishi, five ministers were sworn in, including Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Imran Hussain, and first-time MLA Mukesh Ahlawat from Sultanpur Majra.

Atishi previously managed 13 key portfolios, such as finance, revenue, public works, power, and education, in the outgoing government.

Her appointment follows a unanimous selection during an AAP legislature party meeting, emphasizing a significant shift in Delhi’s political landscape. Kejriwal’s resignation came shortly after he was granted bail by the Supreme Court, and he stated he would return only if the public “certified” his integrity in the upcoming Assembly elections set for February.
